Shipping Information

Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets aims to ship all orders on a next business day basis, generally within 24 hours of order placement - unless otherwise requested by purchaser or whenever a specialized inventory item is ordered. During busy Holiday seasons, Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets strives to ship orders within 72 hours of receipt. Please allow more lead-time for large single and multiple destination orders. Multiple items delivered to the same destination and contained within a single (shopping cart) gift order will be shipped as a bulk order. This calculation will be displayed on-line during the secure check-out session and the buyer will know exactly how much the shipping charge is for the entire order. This is a rather affordable way to add an extra piece of cheese or a box of chocolates to any gift basket order!

Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets ships only within Canada. All orders are shipped (originate) from our production facility in Almonte, Ontario. Delivery times shown above are for ground shipments only and represent approximate shipping times. Delivery service by FedEx Ground to major city centers will be quicker (on average) than service to rural (outlying) areas. Please note that delivery dates cannot be guaranteed and Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets will not be held responsible for late deliveries due to severe weather or transportation issues such as flight delays or poor driving/road conditions. FedEx cannot deliver to post office boxes and it is always preferable for an occupant to be present at the delivery address to accept and sign for delivery. For this reason, Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets strongly encourages using a business/work location for best delivery results. Gift baskets shipped via FedEx Ground and SWIFT Messenger Delivery Systems (daily OTTAWA-GATINEAU Region) will be delivered on business days, during normal business hours only.

Shipping rates charged by Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets will vary depending upon size/weight of gift basket(s), requested service level, and delivery location. Shipping rates are calculated at check-out from each shopping cart session based on selected shipping method. Shipping charges currently range as follows for deliveries to the OTTAWA-GATINEAU Region - $20.00 to $25.00, PROVINCIAL (Ontario) - $20.00 to $35.00, and NATIONAL (most out-of-province, Canadian destinations) - $25.00 to $50.00.

Please note that courier companies do not normally phone recipients prior to delivery. If you are not sure whether your gift recipient will be at home during business hours, we recommend providing alternate delivery instructions for your gift item. Additional shipping charges will apply if subsequent delivery attempts are necessary. If no one answers the door at the time of delivery, the gift item will be returned to the courier agency's facility and the recipient will be contacted to schedule a subsequent delivery or arrange to pick-up the package during next business day/hours. Your permission to "Leave at Door or With Neighbour" may provide a more convenient and timely delivery option. Simply provide any special delivery instructions in the Comment box when placing your on-line order. Should you request that your shipment be "Left at Door or With a Neighbour," you acknowledge and accept all liability and risk for the order.

Shipping to Remote Locations: Gift baskets shipped to remote locations within Canada may be brokered to regional couriers by FedEx for final delivery. To maintain the most affordable shipping rates for our customers, Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets may also ship gift packages direct from our production facility to these areas using Canada Post's XPRESSPOST or Expedited Parcel delivery service. Customers can be assured that the method chosen to ship their gift basket(s) will be cost and time sensitive and will also provide direct delivery confirmation notice to the sender.

To maintain product freshness and to ensure quality of gift items shipped during the warmer Summer months, items to be delivered outside Ontario/Quebec will be shipped via FedEx 2-Day Service. Shipping rates are updated and revised seasonally - rates posted for shipping gift items outside Ontario/Quebec during Summer months may be higher than those rates charged during the cooler seasons.
Please note that additional shipping surcharges are applicable on gift basket orders delivered to remote locations in Canada serviced by the following postal codes: A0P-A0Z, A2V, G0G, G4T, R0B, X0A-X9Z, and Y0A-Y9Z. If your recipient's delivery address is located in any area serviced by these postal codes, please e-mail Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets at sales@ottawavalleygiftbaskets.ca to communicate your order so that the appropriate shipping costs can be calculated on your order. Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets will not be held responsible for delays in processing gift basket orders when/if customer order is placed without first determining additional shipping surcharges with our production office. If any problem is discovered with a gift basket order, Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets will contact the customer by e-mail or telephone and will work with the customer to remedy the outstanding issue.

Local Delivery Options: Ottawa Valley Gift Basket's local delivery area includes the following main centres, and all areas in between - within an 80 kilometer radius of our production facility...downtown OTTAWA-GATINEAU (HULL), Arnprior, Aylmer, Barrhaven, Bells Corners, Carp, Gloucester, Greely, Hazeldean, Kanata, Kars, Manotick, Metcalfe, Munster Hamlet, Navan, Nepean, North Gower, Orleans, Osgoode, Perth, Richmond, Smiths Falls, and Stittsville. A $15.00 flat-rate fee is charged for deliveries within the Almonte/Carleton Place area (gift recipient must reside in postal code area K0A 1A0 or K7C xxx). Weekday delivery of gift items to those addresses falling within the defined OTTAWA-GATINEAU Region boundary will be hand- delivered by our contracted local courier service, SWIFT Messenger Delivery Systems. Gifts destined for addresses falling outside our local delivery area will be shipped via FedEx Ground. Not sure whether your recipient delivery address is within our local delivery area? Give us a call us to inquire - we would hate to have delivery of your gift basket delayed due to insufficient shipping charges.

Local Weekend Delivery: Upon request, Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets can arrange to hand-deliver gift baskets and gift items to local addresses/destinations on weekends and Holidays. This delivery service is offered on an order-by-order basis and, therefore, shipping cost is assessed based on direct-drive rates from our production facility to the delivery destination within the Ottawa-Gatineau Region - up to 80 kilometers from Almonte. To make a special local delivery request, simply select the OTTAWA-GATINEAU Region - Weekend Delivery option and provide any special delivery instructions in the Comment box when placing your on-line order.

Change Orders and Missing Shipping Information: All order changes must be made prior to any gift basket order being released to courier service for delivery. Please call Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets at (613)251-0833 for any changes or updates to your order. If the order has already been picked up by the courier service, no refund or credit will be issued. Refunds will not be issued/processed wherein any order an incorrect or incomplete shipping address has been provided to Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets. When a gift basket is returned to Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets, the sender will be contacted immediately and asked to provide an alternate shipping address for their intended recipient. Any additional shipping fees assessed by the courier(s) to deliver the gift basket to the alternate address will be charged to the sender. Ottawa Valley Gift Baskets will also assess a 15% fee for additional administration and handling.
